This bold departure from suburban development patterns builds upon neo-traditional principles to transform a tired commercial strip into the 200-acre Heart of the City town center. Bonestroo’s project team prepared a plan that illustrated community vision and market opportunities. We prepared a Design Framework Manual to define streetscape, architectural and site planning guidelines based on a hierarchy of street types, as well as zoning ordinance language to support the design framework. The Heart of the City is recognized as a regional model for smart growth and placemaking.
