Bonestroo coordinated a multi-disciplinary team studying redevelopment opportunities for this 250-acre study area that included a camping facility, a small lake, and an obsolete regional shopping center. Our project funding application resulted in the project’s selection as one of six Opportunity Sites for the Metropolitan Council’s Smart Growth Twin Cities project.
Working with City officials and a citizen task force, we produced a Master Plan centered on redeveloping the shopping mall while balancing community desires with market realities and Smart Growth principles. The end product included a framework of key design standards and a set of criteria for developer selection.
