Spruce Street was extended to connect the core downtown with a new mixed use development on the west side of the City. The project called for crossing the Vermillion River, a designated trout stream, with a 180-foot bridge span. Bonestroo provided project management and design review.
Strong consideration was given to maintaining the existing river channel, maintaining flood levels, and aesthetic bridge treatments. By involving key stakeholders throughout the process, Bonestroo was able to achieve the appropriate balance between visual character and cost.
