Cascade Lake Water Quality, Rochester, MN

One of the most important issues facing the City of Rochester was establishing the best possible water quality for the future lake, which would occupy almost half of the planned 230-acre park. Through a combination of watershed and lake response modeling and an in-lake and groundwater sampling program, our team was able to clearly demonstrate the value of keeping the park lake disconnected from the network of streams and lakes around it. In addition, we mapped out several specific stormwater management measures in the local drainage of the future lake that would significantly benefit lake water quality.
