The guide is an easy to use resource created to help professionals and amateurs alike identify common prairie and weed seedlings in the field. The 120 page guide includes color photos and field descriptions for seeds and seedlings of 54 native grasses and forbs, as well as 26 common agricultural weeds.
Bonestroo recognized the need for a field guide and initiated the project bringing together over twenty partners including several state departments of natural resources, departments of transportation, universities, state departments of agriculture, the Iowa Living Roadway Trust Fund, native seed vendors, and nonprofit conservation organizations.
